Come research with us!
Many of our students engage in research for a semester, summer, or even longer. Most of the opportunities are in the summer when students are less distracted by homework and tests - and most of the students secure financial support from one of three sources: NSF-funded LSAMP grants for minorities, campus-funded SMART grants for all students, and direct funding from a professor's research grant.

Chemistry (B.S., B.A., minor)
Biochemistry (B.S., B.A.)
Our B.S. degrees are science-intensive and designed for the student intent on a career in industry, graduate study, or medical school. The B.A. degrees are attractive to students who are interested in chemistry or biochemistry, but who want a more well-rounded education or are unsure of a career or graduate study. For the B.A. degrees, several upper-level STEM courses are replaced with courses in other disciplines directed toward a minor in that discipline. Minors in environmental science, sustainability, and biology are good matches for a B.A. degree, but any minor available at our university can be chosen (e.g. music, art, French).
